Entry level automatic watches

Hey guys, I’m in need of some opinions. I was really into watches years ago but fell out of it and now, I’m all the way back in. If you were to start today, what would be the first automatic watch you buy? Let’s say under $750.

Trying to sell a watch

Hi,
I’m been a member for about a year now and bought a few watches from members. I’ve engaged in some threads as well. I’m looking to sell a watch at this point but it seems I don’t have access to do so. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

What a haul!

It’s no surprise that I collect affordable/ cheap watches. Today I spent an hour or so at my local flea market (again).

I lucked out today, I walked up to a booth where I’ve seen watches in the past, and this guy did have more watches this time. Before I could pick out a couple that I thought I could save he said “I’ll take $45 for all of them.”

17 watches in fair condition, some keepers, some need a bit of work, over all I call that a score!

What brings wrist time close to zero? Close to constant?

Close to zero wrist time: honeymoon phase is long over; I like the on-wrist look okay, but don’t love it; I want to baby the watch, so can’t wear without care; I think the watch looks great in third-person perspective, but I don’t wear a watch to look in the mirror all day, and I don’t wear it for others to see. So watch gets close to zero wrist time.

Modern PVD coating, long term wear?

I am curious, how good is modern pvd technology?
.
Has anyone had experience with modern pvd coating over a few years or so? In particular gold tone PVD.

I hear it is way better than plating tech back in the day, and thin plates of real gold is a lot…

First Luxury Watch

What was the first watch that you got that you considered to be a true “luxury” watch?

Mine was the Omega Seamaster 007 “No time to die” watch. Purchased naively on a cruise. Was too embarrassed to wear the watch for the first couple months.

Farer – ordered the new Durham

I’ve always admired Farer watches but never found one that made me want to pull the trigger and buy one. The monopusher chronographs (esp, the Cobb) were particularly enticing but just couldn’t justify the price. Not that I feel they are over-priced, just that at more than $1500 I’d find something else I’d rather buy.

The one model I would’ve bought but I missed out on was the Hudson. Ah well, can’t collect them all!

Anyway, this past weekend Farer emailed that their new models were…
