Just started to get more into pens recently. Also, in the early stages of learning calligraphy. Here’s what I have so far, some were obtained a few years ago but haven’t really considered a collection until recently when I put them jn this display rack on my desk (vs drawers previously). Not super fancy, but like their look and functionality (cross, billetspin, schon, urban survival gear and lamy). I’ve been really into the Schon and Billetspint recently. Not looking to spend a fortune…

Fountain pen for a newbie

Would you guys be so kind as to recommend a fountain pen for somebody who knows almost nothing about them? Preferably something without too much of a learning curve. I’m guessing that something will take cartridges so I won’t have to deal with an inkwell and something that won’t leak. I’d like to stick with black and silver, sort of along the lines of a nice MB but with a budget of $200. Less is always nice but I don’t want to sour the experience buying something that is sub par. Parker 75’s (or other “that’s my pen” brands)

Pens are kind of like watches. I have lots. But for some reason the Parker 75 has always been my favourite. My dad used to let me use his ciselé, but never let me take it to school – so at 16 I bought a Parker Sonnet. That pen I also loved. It got me through all my notes and exams in high school and university, but it was fussy, prone to air pressure changes and blotting ink. It got worse after years of abuse. I switched to my Cross, but nice as it was, still not right.
