With an abundance of of bias, I think we we call all agree that IWC makes some compelling, handsome, and excellent watches. I’ve long enjoyed my 500401 Big Pilot and I’m on the hunt for a Pilot Chrono Le Petit Prince. And recently, I stumbled upon the Aquatimer and was immediately taken. The blocky case, the SafeDive protrusion, the bezel action, and the dial all speak to me. It’s my kind of watch.

Finally got my Grail

All I can say is that pix don’t come close to showing how gorgeous this watch is (nor does the crappy camera on my 4 generation old iPhone).
It’s stunning in the sunlight.
And it’s so thin.
And I love the bracelet.
The butterfly clasp looks gorgeous, almost like there is no clasp at all, but it’s too fiddly for me.
I have the micro-adjust clasp coming in a few weeks.
I really must give a shout out to Leonardo Jewelers in Metuchen, NJ, and Joshua who got me an awesome deal.

Modify an 18mm OEM IWC mesh bracelet to fit 19mm Mark XV?

Hold your horses! It’s not a crazy question. The IWC Mark XV mesh bracelet, 19mm, is rare as a hen’s tooth. They never come up for sale. I’ve been in touch with a watchmaker here in NYC who has located the 18mm of this same, I think for the earlier Mark XII. We haven’t discussed a price yet but it won’t be cheap.

My question is this: what are folks’ thoughts on asking him to modify (he does have the skills) the end links to fit my 19mm case? Is that a good/bad/adequate idea?
