Finally, the Grand Seiko GS SBGP017G that belongs to me has arrived.

Ever since I gave up on an SBGP017 with not-so-good condition last time, I have always been obsessed with this watch. I can’t think of any other reason,I just simply want to own it. It has so many features that attract me: the specially adjusted 9F85 movement with an accuracy of ± 5 seconds, the light blue dial with rich texture, the blue second hand, the golden star, the blue GS logo, and the transparent case back. This might be the most beautiful quartz watch from GS. When I got this watch…

Poll: should I stay or should I go now? You guys decide.

I don’t point out misconceptions about HAQ as part of some diabolical plan to make people lose face. I point them out so that the forum as a collective can come to a better shared understanding. But it seems my efforts are unappreciated. So I will hold a vote, so all the lurkers can speak their mind. Should I stay or should I go?

Considering the views in this forum, I will consider less than 50 total votes as a majority vote for option 4, which will have the same outcome as a majority vote…

Grand Seiko European Service Center question

Hello guys,
Today my GS SBGN003 started ticking at a two-second interval, so I guess the battery needs to be replaced soon. Since I am based in Poland I wanted to ask our European members, any experience with European authorized service centers? Any good/bad stories that you’d want to share? Any thoughts on the Grand Seiko Deutschland in particular? As this seems to be the default one for Poland (as per GS website).

The reason the HAQ watch is meaningful to me.

I’d like to share my example with all of you
Watch A is a HAQ watch. It steadily gains 0.4 to 0.6 seconds per month. In a year, it accumulates a gains 6 seconds.
Watch B is an RC watch. When it’s not synchronized, it gains 0.25 seconds per day. Due to environmental factors and usage habits , it can’t guarantee successful synchronization every day. The time interval between two successful synchronizations can range from 0 to 10 days.
If we consider watch accuracy , Watch B seems superior…

On the origins of short-cycle logical regulation aka digital count adjustment

For a long time, members of this forum thought inhibition was the only feasible method for ‘modern’ (ie single crystal 32 kHz) HAQ. Some members, like Catalin, suspected alternatives based on technical manuals, but the specifics remained vague. Thanks to (Japanese) sources I have found and shared, we now know many of the specifics, not only about early analog TC, but also alternative methods to inhibition, like time-division capacitor switching. Most general info comes from a…
