SBGA211 Snowflake – ADs Offering Discounts?! Good Deal or Market Shift?

Hey everyone,

Got an offer from an Authorized Dealer (AD) for a brand new Grand Seiko SBGA211 ‘Snowflake’ at 20% off retail. A second AD also indicated they’d discount (they just offered the discount without me even asking).

This seems wild to me because, let’s be honest, before this year, getting any kind of discount on a Grand Seiko from an AD felt pretty much impossible. It was like getting blood out of a stone.

So, is 20% off from an AD now a solid deal worth grabbing?

Recreation of a 1968 Vintage: SLGW005

I’ve often been on the verge of buying a 44GS or 45GS Vintage, but have always backed out at the last second. But now the decision was actually made the second I saw this watch on Instagram – at the latest when I read the specs. Almost 1:1 to the historical model (with a more wearable size for me) and the new 5Hz Hi-Beat caliber 9SA4 with manual winding and 80 hours power reserve. That’s it – take my money Grand Seiko.

Okay, limited to 1,200 pieces, that doesn’t bode well for the German…

If you think GS bracelet screws are small…

In various threads we’ve discussed how tiny and easy-to-lose the GS bracelet screws are. For something that actually needs to be manipulated now and again they are indeed quite small.

But if you think GS bracelet screws are small, you’ve never had to install or remove rate adjusting screws from an early 1970’s Bulova Accuquartz. Those things are so small that you really have to wonder what infernal device they used to machine them.
