Why Don’t More Use Sapphire?
I’ll post this thread here since my primary interest is in divers, but this discussion applies to all watches. Simply, why don’t more manufacturers use sapphire over mineral/coated mineral cyrstals? I understand there is a cost difference but I think it would be negligible and lead to more sales?

DIVE WATCH DIALS AND HANDS…..RIDDLE ME THIS…
WHY WOULD ANY SERIOUS DIVE WATCH HAVE TINY MARKERS AND THE HOUR HAND PROMINENT? I don’t get it. It’s a dive watch to be used to track elapsed MINUTES. Why would you make a watch where the dial makes it easy to know the hour, but the minute hand is a skinny, anemic stick with hardly any lume. Is the hour relevant if your tank(s) are empty and your lungs are or will soon be full of water? The hour would be a nothing without its minutes. Life is made up of minutes elapsed and remaining in…
