Wv56 (2587) viewing angle terrible – repair? Polarizer? Zebra strip?

Hi, II have this wv56h that’s very neat cause it’s one of Casio’s first wave ceptor watches. I put a battery in it since it was low (had thr wrong battery – a 1632 instead of a 1620, the battery hatch wouldn’t fully close.)

Same problem is persisting – terrible lcd viewing angle. I’ve attached he’d pictures. It’s perfectly legible at a low angle but basically unreadable straight on making it not really wearable. I have like $8 in this watch and don’t mind messing with it. I took the module…

What ABC watch to buy as a gift

Hello guys,
My nephew is turning 18 soon, and he likes hiking, so I thought that an ABC watch would be a great gift for him.

Solar power and radio control is a must, so I found PRW-3400Y-2JF on Sakura (I don’t have any experience with that store, but it seems to have some good feedback in this forum). And I think it’d be pretty cool to have a JDM model.

However, I’ve also found PRW3500 on…

Mini ABL-100 Review

Here are my thoughts on the Casio ABL-100 after a few days use.

I’ve had the watch for 4 days now and worn it about 10-12 hours each day.

The watch is a touch larger than an F91/A168/A159 etc and all the better for it. It has a nice metal bracelet reminiscent of the older 1980s Casio style. I’ve found it comfortable to wear.

The case is Ion plated chrome over resin and the biggest let down of the watch. I would have preferred to pay a little more for an all Stainless Steel case. Casio…

I made a digital watch from scratch

Image

I got into digital watches after getting tired of my Apple watch, and starting doing D&D and electronics during the pandemic. These are prototypes that came out of that: A digital watch that rolls virtual dice for tabletop roleplaying games.

The one on the left stays plugged in for programming, and the one on the right is for daily wear and abuse. I’d love to hear what folks here think about them!

Need help repairing Casio J-31W

Hi everyone. Trying to restore this old J-31W and need an advice: there’s a tiny golden spring that fell out while I was taking it apart, I believe it’s a button power spring, but I can’t figure out where it goes. (it’s not the beeper spring, that one is intact).

It has an issue with display flickering and shutting off, and that’s what I was trying to fix, but ended up with front buttons not working.
Any help will be appreciated!

Looking for a natural font digital watch

Hi friends.

I want to find a digital watch with matrix instead of segment screen display.

I did searched a lot but none of them are perfectly for my need.

Must be real matrix display, not those dot-shaped segment ones.

Must be always on display, so no OLED.

MIP is best, but I can tolerate normal LCD.

It should not be a smartwatch, because I want battery life of more than a year, and I hate those phone connection features.

There’s a Seiko one almost perfect, but it cannot show seconds…
