Lorier Olympia "Contrasto" showed up on Friday. LOVE it! Vertical clutch column wheel NE88 (Seiko 8R48) movement, 28,800vph (4Hz, 8ticks/sec). I've been looking for a watch with this movement for a few months. The Seikos look good, b…
Continue readingMax Verstappen’s Heuer Monaco
Been thinking about acquiring a certain square chronograph, then seent Max's in post-Baku interview. Looks like the Calibre 11 version with the crown on the left and black leather racing strap. Nice! It superficially looks the most like Steve M…
Continue reading1975 Pogue performance with chrono running
I wore the Pogue with the chronograph continuously running for a couple of days straight to see if there is any effect on accuracy and/or power reserve. -46s after one day, another -52s (-98s total) after day two. Previously I had measured about -27s…

g/f got me this sweeet 24-slot Rothwell watchbox! Turns out I have more than 24 watches
Anyway, it looks like I have less of a problem with watches neatly tucked away here vs. just lying around the house. I mean a dozen watches on the bedside table…
Continue readingMy grail HotWheels watch
I was born in 1967, HotWheels in 1968, right on time… Santa Claus or somebody got me a 100% badass HotWheels watch when I was a tiny kid in the early 1970s. Man I remember being amazed at how fricking cool that watch was, I loved it! I fount this …

I'm going to get a mech/auto chronograph for me burfday. Looking at 8R48/NE88 options, Lorier Olympia and Pitzmann 3 are top contenders. Size is a factor as I have spindly wrists, so 38-40mm preferred. The Seikos are a bit large at 42mm but sti…

I’ve found Rolex to generally be overly conservative in their style and in the tech. Legit impressed with +/-2spd though. Honestly I’d have a blue OP or a Milgauss if they could be had for $2500 based on that.
But this really makes me a fan.
As for the watch it’s going in… I love the…
Venezianico Musou Black vs. Camp Malaga Red
The Camp Fieldtimer comes with three straps, and I ordered the stainless bracelet with the Venezianico. The Camp Fieldtimer came installed onto the grey cordura nylon strap with *****in bright orange backing. Kinda stiff but I’ll let it break in. Venezianico black leather strap also a bit stiff, will see how it breaks…
HAQ?
I have a Bulova JetStar and a Certina DS-2 Precidrive chronograph and they both keep time to with 1s between going in/out of Daylight Savings Time (the stupidest idea ever). Anyway, I was wondering if either of these watches are considered "HAQ&q…
Continue readingProposed: a dedicated forum for Chronographs
It would be great to have a "Chronographs" sub-forum under "Theme Forums". Seems warranted, would see a lot more use than some of the existing sub-forums…
Just a thought!
