Genuine Horia vs. Chinese copy – side by side review

This subject was covered to some degree here and in other sources. I figured that adding my impressions wouldn’t hurt.

I own complete standard vintage Seitz (pre-Bergeon) set and a genuine Horia jeweling tool. Horia is 4mm both ends, so I can use the anvils and the pump pushers from the vintage Seitz set.

For the sake of science—and taking advantage of Amazon Prime Days—I picked up an obscenely cheap Chinese copy of the Horia tool, complete with an expanded 48-piece set of pump…

Help! Parts Interchangeability Question.

As you may have seen in the other thread, I’m working on Enicar AR1125 movement. It has one of its parts broken – one of the two identical breguet wheels. The broken one has its tiny pivot missing. Cousins shows that the wheel “Automatic Wheel, Enicar 1124 1489” is discontinued, but also offers in the parts list for AR1125 this mysterious part: “Automatic Pawl Winding Wheel Enicar 1165 1489”, which is available and is listed as compatible with 1124, 1125, 1145, 1165, 167 movements.

Where to place useless jewels in a movement…

A friend of mine asked me to see what could be done for one of his old watches – Enicar Sherpa Automatic with a whopping 33 jewels. Understandably, I was curious to see how Enicar managed to apply these jewels in the simple calendar movement AR1125. Looking under the dial revealed the first batch: 6 jewels set in the mainplate to support a driving wheel for lower ratchet wheel. In the middle of this group of jewels is a jewel post upon which the wheel is rotating. So, that’s 7 jewels…
