I didn't think my perspective on my watch collection would change. I have a healthy mix of cheap (Seiko quartz) and expensive (Zenith Defy) watches and plenty in-between.

Interested in people's thoughts on the King Seiko SLA083.

It's very interesting to me. An appealing combination of beautiful and ugly. I'm very tempted. I was thinking I need a purple watch, but most don't appeal to me. This does.

The purple is amazing and the case shape is great. I could leave the 'V' seconds counter weight, and I could have it a little thinner, however, I'd rather have it thicker and keep the box crystal, display back and the 8L45 movement.

King Seiko Vanac SLA083 impressions

My Seiko Alpinist SPB489J:

Odd observation: Here (above) on my Alpinist, the W and E are perfectly aligned, but when rotated 180 degrees to E and W (left to right), they aren't. I can't make sense of this. It may be due to the rotating mechanism and how it maintains water resistance; not a simple translation. Not sure.
