I know the diminishing returns thing, and people have different opinions about which quantum leaps give you the best value. In my financial world , 2K is what I might be able to spend and not feel sick. This might be an end or near end watch. I have enough.

Hello, Longines experts. How this came about is that I saw a picture on FB of the current Conquest, a watch I had not previously considered, and I thought it looked cool. I have studied it a bit, and I like what I see.

But . . . while at the official manufacturer site, I figured I should look at the Spirit. If I understand correctly, the Conquest has the L888.5, while the Spirit has the COSC certified L888.4. The price difference is just 150, which I would gladly pay for the accuracy…

Last year most every time I got a close up of Manager Alex Cora on the field or meeting the press, he was wearing a nice looking watch with a black dial and orange strap. I couldn't quite figure what it was, but someone on reddit said it's an older model Oris Aquis. This season, Cora is wearing something new, and so far I can't tell what it is. It seems to have a metal bracelet, and is probably round, and that's all I have discerned so far. An interesting footnote, at least for Sox fans, is...

I know the issue of magnetism has been discussed, but if you could advise me on the permutations before me, I would be thankful.

The watch is an Oris Big Crown Cal 473, purchased from a large grey vendor which has always worked for me. The watch went from the UPS driver into my hand, and appeared to be fine, with all tags, plastics, etc. Upon giving the watch a full wind and setting it, it was immediately clear that the watch was running fast, as you could actually see the second hand…
