When Casio announced the DW-5000R, it seems like there were mixed reactions, at least based on what I could see. There were some who didn't like the idea of spending $200 USD on a basic G-shock that didn't have all the features like tough solar and multiband 6. But it was clear that the DW-5000R was aimed at enthusiasts. The very enthusiasts who would gladly spend $200USD on a basic square G-shock even though they already had a G-shock (or G-shocks) at home.

It was right up my alley.
