As per the title, I’m sure someone here may be able to help. It winds and the second hand ticks but this does not then drive the minute hand around.

I doubt it’s of any significance or value – probably a mass produced, manual wind of the time but I’d like to know what it is and age. I suspect I won’t be repairing it – merely keeping it with the old watch related items I collect.

It fits into this pretty little BWC case, as you can see above. For those interested the crystal is a plastic or acrylic that friction fits into the cover

Thanks in advance
Al

Morning all
I had hoped that this would be a happier post and appear on the new arrivals and IWC threads but, alas, that is not to be.

Earlier this week I ordered an IWC from Goldsmiths (part of the WoS Group) for delivery. My order arrived yesterday and upon opening the box and the travel case, this is what I was presented with.

The watch was loose and not secured around the cushion in any way so has tumbled about during transit.

Can anyone confirm whether the watch should have had protective stickers around it? There were none on either the watch or the buckle. Should there be a small plastic clip keeping the strap in a loop around the cushion? If so, that is missing.

A quick check against my iPhone and another watch showed that the Mark XX’s seconds hand appeared to be running fast. It gained 5 seconds over a minute and over 5 minutes over the space of an hour. I emailed the Goldsmiths order help team but received a message back stating that they could take up to 5 days to respond to enquiries. The live web chat button on the website seems to launch nothing. I have escalated this to the complaints email address but have received nothing back so far.

This morning I checked the time keeping and it is now almost an hour and a half fast.

I’m going to escalate up the management chain.
If anyone can provide a view on my queries above and how the watch should be packaged/presented correctly in the case, I would appreciate it.

I’m requesting a replacement and will keep you updated on progress.

To make matters worse, I’m currently housebound and unable to drive (at least until January 9th) following an operation last month. Any logistics for returning/exchanging are going to require a Herculean effort on their part to resolve!

I’m sitting here bitterly disappointed and wondering whether I have received a new watch or perhaps a window display item that’s been hastily stuffed back in to its packaging for sale. When I consider I have received Seiko Cocktail watch orders (at a tenth of the price of the IWC) they have always been well packaged, protected with film stickers and properly secured.

Yours, a disappointed, frustrated and upset Shaky!!
