I bought a set of the Cousins Swiss Style – Spring Bar Tweezers. My son ruined my Bergeon equivalent and so I thought I’d give these a go.
I want to access the wider tips and so in theory an easy job, use an Allen key to unscrew the tips and swop round.
After enquiring with Cousins, they said a 1.3mm Allen key will do the job. I purchased one of these as my existing smallest is 1.5mm.
1.3mm is no good as it has just turned in the hex socket as it is too small. It appears that 1.4mm might be the correct tool but I cannot locate one anywhere.

Does anyone know the equivalent imperial size to a 1.4mm Allen key as something has put this tool together originally?
After a browse around on Amazon etc, the same question is being asked as no doubt this is a common issue with this tool.

Following on from my thread about differing quotes for a Rolex service, my son took his 114270 Explorer 1 to an independent in Nottingham. I did pass on all your recommendations but he did his own thing.
The cost for a movement service was much more sensible than the RSC quote so he drove to Nottingham and the chap took the caseback off and discovered that the rotor is rubbing on the movement. Thus indicating the bearing in the centre was worn giving lateral movement and an observable witness mark.
The cost to fix this with a new genuine part was an additional £350.
The cost of the independent service plus this part is still very much less than the RSC price. The watch came with no service history and the independent service centre said it did not look like it had been serviced in its life.

However, my question is, would this worn part be changed as part of the RSC service with no extra cost or would it be a chargeable part as well?

The conundrum is that the cheaper price of the preowned watch plus this work is now close to the cost of a new watch with a 5 year warranty and extended service time.
I’ve been offered three new Explorers now from two different dealers so they are available.

Hi,
I have seen a watch I fancy on EBay.
As it is a bit more than £1500 it is due to go for authentification.
I know exactly what the watch is and all the gubbins that is with it suggests that it is very definitely genuine. It is unworn and BNIB.
Does the Authenticator take the back off as I don’t want that or need that really?
Essentially, I don’t want any chance of someone slipping with the case opening tool or marking this BNIB watch.

What are my options?

Last Autumn, my wife had her midsize datejust from 1993 serviced via WOS. All done including a polish for a bit less than £700.
My son recently bought a 2008 year Explorer 1 (114270). Today he asked for a service but no polish through Pragnells to be told £1,000 and WOS quoted £1,300.

Please can anyone explain what it going on here? Why is there such a difference, the Explorer is non date and no polish required? Surely there must be a mistake somewhere?!?

I have both aluminium bezel and ceramic bezel Rolex sports watches and would like to remove some bracelets.
Looking at Cousins, there appear to be two Bergeon options other than the standard tool with the fine fork end that I have already.
1. 7825 Tweezers, similar to what I’ve seen Rolex St James use.

2. 6825 Pliers with different tip options. 1.30 mm, 1.10mm and 1.00mm. Which tips are needed to safely remove the Rolex bracelet?

I also have a couple of Seamaster 300 divers currently on NATO straps but would like to try the bracelet again.

So which is the best kit to get hold of?
I know to tape the lugs but want no sweaty moments with scratched lugs.
