I’ve always been fascinated by Corum but like many others have found the designs odd and even damn right garish at times. But they do produce some great innovation. The bubble, coin and bridge for example.

Since I learned that they are no longer under Chinese ownership and back in Swiss hands I thought I’d try them. I’ve been after a “proper” dive watch to add to my collection and was attracted to the Seafender range. A real tool watch, screw down crown and pushers, 300m WR and a rotating…

I’ve had a speed master in the past which was ok but nothing special. I now have a seamaster apnea which I like but since I bought an IWC I’ve realised that the Omega just isn’t “special” compared to that. I also have a Rolex explorer 2 42mm which is a great watch.

I guess in all honesty I place Omega in the same bucket as Brietling. Nothing special and super generic.

Am I being irrational!?

I am considering selling the Apnea for a Ulysse Nardin diver. I consider that a far more “special”…

Going off Omega, not “special”, just “meh”

I’m considering buying a Ulysse Nardin Maxi Marine Diver for my 50th.

Unfortunately I strongly dislike their straps with those metal branded inserts…maybe ok in Dubai but not my taste.

Does anyone know if aftermarket “normal” rubber straps can be used whilst retaining the UN deployment clasp?
