After reading the thread on canteen crowns, here is another unusual crown mechanism. The Hamilton Field H624550 has an unusual assemblage of springy arms that are unique as far as I know. In thinking about the reasoning behind such an unusual arrangement, the only answer appears to be that the crown is held in position by this method which creates both a positive lock with screw down threads providing downward on the crown tube and the springy arms providing outward pressure on the crown…

First, there is the power reserve at the 12 position. Just completed my first complete assembly from parts...case, movement, dial, hands, crown and stem, bezel insert, and gaskets. Added in a black steel bracelet. The whole process took about 3 hours, but should go faster after this initial attempt. However, it took me about 6 weeks to assemble the watch parts.

I've still got parts lined up for 4 more watch assemblies. Sure is fun!

I'm not sure where to post this, so any suggestions as to where would be appreciated, and any comments + or...

Just completed my first complete assembly from parts…case, movement, dial, hands, crown and stem, bezel insert, and gaskets. Added in a black steel bracelet. The whole process took about 3 hours, but should go faster after this initial attempt. However, it took me about 6 weeks to assemble the watch parts.

I've still got parts lined up for 4 more watch assemblies. Sure is fun!
