1. An everyday watch limits which watches you wear.
It quickly becomes your go-to watch and the safe option. It will make you think less about the watch you want to wear, because you always have this “alright” option. Your other, more interesting/specific watches may not be chosen, even though they would work better for your outfit/what you’re going to do, just…
Which Watches Can Pull Off Two-Tone?
I’ll start:
The Santos Galbeé in two-tone just works for me. I think it might be because of the smaller size and the bracelet silhouette, rather than a normal watch silhouette. It makes the watch more of a jewelry piece, which helps when going two-tone imo.
Your turn!
What’s your favourite unusual Speedmaster Edition?
I haven’t really dived deep into special Speedmasters generally yet, so I’m curious:
What are your favourite special edition Speedmasters? Which designs do you think are hidden gems?
How does the Doxa Sub 200T compare to the SKX013?
Since I normally wear a SKX013, I assume that the smaller 200T should be the best fit. I can’t really try any, as no dealers near me stock Doxa.
If someone has both in their collection, these questions are for you:
- How do they compare/differ in wearing experience?
- Does the Doxa look…
Alternatives to Audemars Piguet’s [RE]Master02
The more I’ve looked at this watch, the more I love the style and angular, harsh design.
Seeing as I will (hopefully) never spend as much as these watches cost, I want to ask: What other watches remind you of the [RE]Master02? Are there any cool (probably vintage) watches out there with similar design language?
So far I only can think of the Hamilton Ventura, which does come close to be fair.
Tank Vermeil dials
I’m currently on the hunt for a classic dial Tank vermeil, and I’m slightly stumped on what colours were produced.
Speciffically, I am talking about these dials, with the classic design:
As you can see, the dial colour seems to range between a light champagne and a full yellow gold, depending on the example.
Are these all the same…
What Unconventional Rule Signifies your Collection?
I value design originality above all.
This makes sense of why I often only look at a brand’s flagship models, as it is likely their most original design.
It also pushes me to have a more agressive stance against watches inspired by others.
E.g. I don’t like Hamilton’s, Longines’, or Omega’s tanks, even though I will agree that their movement and robustness is likely superior to Cartier. For me, I always want to go to the source of that particular watch…
Special Occasion Watch: Cartier Tank Vermeil or Gold-Capped Omega Seamaster?
I’m looking to build my collection by adding a nice special occasion watch, for around €1200. Fancy dinners, nice day out, etc.
I’m currently stuck between two goodlooking options:
The Cartier Tank Vermeil (small model)
And the Omega Seamaster 166.010 in gold cap.
While it will take some time and knowledge to find a good example of the Cartier on this budget, I do think it is possible. The Omega is…
