Watches are expensive and the average person doesn't have a lot of money. So, there are videos on YouTube about building a $10,000 watch collection, or maybe building a watch collection that has one grail watch. Or acquiring one exit watch. People buy watches to celebrate an occasion like a promotion. To me the location of the store where I bought the watch is also important because that makes the location meaningful and creates a feel good emotional attachment when I visit that store again and also creates a nice relationship with the sales staff. This also creates a provenance for the watch. I have bought many used watches from Chrono24 so it feels a bit different.

Besides collecting watches I also collect art, paintings and sculptures. I bought this painting in an estate sale and I liked it because it shows the area where Post street and Market Street meet in San Francisco. Post street is like 5th street in NYC, with high-end luxury stores. Last year Post street lost a watch store named Tourbillon, but is adding a Patek and Breitling store. This painting was made in 1995 and I noticed three people wearing watches. From left to right, a hot dog stand…
