Dolce?

Hi, all

Recently some of the older Seiko Dolce models have caught my eye, specifically ones from about mid 70’s to about mid 80’s with the tungsten cases.

Some of them look really nice. And a lot of them have high accuracy movements as well.

Does anyone have any experiences with these that they can share?

Nice find – SBGX119

Hi, all

I just picked up a pre-owned SBGX119 in very good condition. This model, and it’s siblings, SBGX121, 319 and 321, are not that much talked about. It’s understated and simple, but as usual, with some nice subtleties that make it pop. The dial has a very mild sunburst effect and a silky soft white color.
I’ve put it on just some strap I had at hand, but I’ll be getting a nicer one for it. Originally it comes with a bracelet, but I think it looks better on a strap.
What do you guys…

Same difference?

Hi, all

I’m testing the waters for a nice 9F with a white dial, and so far I’ve narrowed it down to:

  • SBGX347
  • SBGX295
  • SBGX259

It looks like the 259 and 295 are the same watch, except that the 259 comes on a bracelet and the other one comes on a strap. If I’m not mistaken, the 295 has a subtle concentric circle texture on the dial, but I don’t know if the 259 has that.
Also, If I order the 295 from abroad, I think the strap would be subject to import restrictions, so…

Any wet shavers out there?

Anybody else out there into old school shaving with double-edge razors, straight razors, shave cream/soap and the trusty old badger-hair brush?

I’ve been doing it for quite a while, and think it’s great.

My usual setup is:

  • Tabac shave soap stick
  • Kent shave brush
  • Feather AC replaceable blade straight razor

I have a bunch of other razors as well that I use now and then, but I usually stick to the same brush. If I’m using a double-edge razor I use Proraso shave cream…
