I have a Casio, it’s the watch I’ve owned the longest. It’s a Wave Ceptor digital which does everything and seems to be indestructible…

Coming to me in the next couple of days is my first ever (yes, genuinely) G-Shock. It’s a GBD-200UU-1ER which is a square Bluetooth affair, but importantly has an MIP display and a backlight…

So, I’ve been delving into Casios a bit more. When I was a young’un it was all about the Casios. A myriad of functions, looks to persuade a 12 year old to part with his pocket money, and break-time coolness. I might well grab an LF20w just ‘cos it’s like a Casio I had at school…

But what’s the Edifice range all about? Where does it sit in the scheme of Casio things? Have you had one? Do you have one? Are they cool?!

I fancied something light and slender for business dress purposes (not that there’s anything wrong with my other watches of course) so I was browsing eBay and I came across a ‘new logo’ Addiesdive AD2026, with a custard cream dial, polished applied indices, polished dauphine hands, Seiko VH31 4Hz quartz movement, screw down crown, sapphire crystal and a very nicely finished case, and a nice bracelet.

36mm diameter, 46mm lug to lug, 19mm lug width, 11.5mm thick.

Got to be worth a bid of 50 notes I thought. And I won it, but not at £50; I won it for £34.80. Brand new, boxed, in wrapping.

The quality blows my mind frankly.

I’ve found that my Citizen radio sync watch doesn’t always receive a signal from the DCF77 transmitter in Frankfurt. So I dug about the Internet and found the Clock Wave app on the App Store for a whopping £1.99.

It allows the signal from any station to be retransmitted via the iPhone or iPad speakers. Takes moments to work.

This year has been a bummer frankly. I got stiffed some months ago by several clients in a row, which left me many £Ks short. My new eco business has been wall-to-wall R&D so that’s drinking money. My IT business has dried up too due to the M-Core Mac’s being so reliable.

Then in October my Dad died – he was in a hospice but I was unaware as his wife had decided to tell nobody, take away his mobile, and then rewrite the will so that my sister and I received nothing.

Today I’m going to a funeral, my friend’s wife. She was 46 when she died. She and her husband struggled to have children for years, so adopted two lovely kids from care, who’d both been badly abused – gave them both a second chance at life. A lovely little family they were, and then she was diagnosed with cancer and was gone within a couple of months.

I’m done with 2024.

What it’s made me value is every second with my kids and my gorgeous other half Isabel. Sometimes it’s easy to get down with people, but at least this year has sharpened my mind into appreciating the value of family, loved ones, friends and health.

Hopefully 2025 will be a good one!
