One second per month……….its incredible.

Has anyone else observed near perfect accuracy from a plain ol' mechanical like this ?

So why does nearly every seconds hand have them ?

The Luminox I had briefly was the worst offender. Not only was it long, but it was really fat too.

Does anyone have a seconds hand to show off without a tail ?

I discovered Panerai's P.9100 caliber that is built around this feature. its also a flyback chrono, which I've discovered in day-to-day use, would be a super handy thing to have.

It also has many other super cool features. The hour hand jumps hours when setting it, and when setting minutes, small seconds snaps to zero. I wish all hacking seconds watches did this …

PAM 524 – did not pull the trigger

A power reserve indicator would be super useful on all mechanical watches. Seem like it would have started out as a standard feature, just like seconds hand so you can watch it run.

Why are they so comparatively rare ?

Is it really that hard to build one ?

My watches wear very gently. I never beat them up or get damaging scratches or dents anywhere.

But I've observed that playing golf makes that pretty difficult. Reaching for clubs and putting them back forces one to be very careful not to put your watch through a literal obstacle course.
