New Central Minute Chrono came today !!

The watch I expected to buy this year showed up today. I’ve always loved chronographs, but with my aged eyesight, I thought I’d never be able to use those tiny sub-dials again.

WUS showed me another way !!

I learned of central minute chronos, and remembered the old Lemania 5100 from my search 20+ years ago.

Today Sinn and Damasco have carried the torch, along with a few others.

I ordered the Damasco a couple of months ago, and today it made it to my house. I absolutely love it.

Not your ordinary “Got the call…” story

I couldn’t pass it up:

I doubt I’ve risen to the point where anyone remembers what I’ve posted, but I’m the guy who posted the anti-Rolex diatribe a little while back. I’ll admit it was trolly, but it was late and ethanol was involved…………

But the conundrum has always bothered me. Rolex is a status symbol recognized by the non-WIS. So why would I want one ?

Because it is authentic. In this case ^2. it’s THE original dive watch, and its real…

Best watch for golf ?

I have never worn a watch while playing golf. But this week I tried it out, because time is actually an important part of the game (tee time, pace of play, etc).

My watches wear very gently. I never beat them up or get damaging scratches or dents anywhere.

But I’ve observed that playing golf makes that pretty difficult. Reaching for clubs and putting them back forces one to be very careful not to put your watch through a literal obstacle course.

What do you guys do ?

New chrono with only small seconds sub-dial ?

I absolutely love Damasco’s central minute chonographs.

The sleek, clean lines with no sub dials on a chrono at all is very impressive.

But it would be nice to have something visibly “running” like a small seconds hand.

2 of the 3 sub-dials on the existing chronos are effectively worthless. Who needs an indicator of day/night when its not even a GMT ? And who times a 12 hr event with an analog chrono ? Besides, half of their watches with sub-dials even have a bezel that could be used to…

Intro

I just joined the forum after an extremely long hiatus. The forum’s front page says “since 2005”, but I’m pretty darn sure it was around in a former version of itself before that.

I learned tons from WUS before my first purchase back in 2002. I had a very distinct list of must have features, and finally couldn’t decide between the perfect sport watch and the perfect dress watch, so I got both !!

My budget wasn’t huge, so no precious metals or hugely popular brands were considered, but I…

Easiest to read chronograph dial

Searching the site rendered nothing useful, so I’ll ask for recommendations for chronograph dials with the easiest to read minutes.

I had one of the first Kobold chronos and happily wore it for the last 20 years. But then my old eyes could no longer read the typical 3 dial layout of the Valjoux 7750.

I’ve had my eye on a Zenith Chronosport Open lately, but it probably won’t be any better.

Ideas ?
