I've got a GLX-5600 incoming that I got for a song, but the resin is in terrible condition. I didn't care, because my original plan was to do something silly and put it in an aftermarket metal case to make it the most obnoxious 'beach watch' that I could. However, I can't seem to get any of the aftermarket sellers I've found to answer simple questions about their product (i.e. Does it have the 'lettering' on it.), so I have pivoted to just replacing the resin. I apologize in advance for the wall of text, but I've done a bunch of looking on my own, and my Google-Fu is failing me.

Question I'm trying to answer before we get into all of the nitty gritty details - Will the new DW5000R or the older (probably have to find it used) GW5000 fit/wear like a DW5600E-1V (DW) or like a GW5610U-1CJF (GW)? I don't want to drop $200 or $300+ dollars only to find out when it arrives that the DW5000R or GW5000 fits like the GW and not the DW.

Anyone have suggestions for a decent tropic strap that works on Seiko divers with the fat spring bars? All the ones I have tried that fit the fat spring bars feel like cheap plastic. I’ve got some cheap FKM rubber ones I have for other watches that feel great, but they all use quick release spring bars with the small tips so they rattle around in the lug holes of Seiko divers.
