Where I am there seems to be a lack of organized watch enthusiast activities (at least that I am aware of). So searching for watch events turned up the NAWCC regionals that have a mart (I assume a marketplace) associated with them. Are these a place where there are a variety of wristwatches (and other things) available for sale to the general public, or are they a specialized market for serious build/repair people? No, not for that.

I have been into watches since I was a kid and have ~50+ watches now (down a bit from the peak), but ALL have been less than $300. Our house is paid off, as are our cars (old as they may be). Recently, my youngest graduated college debt free and my father passed, leaving a bit behind for us and the kids.

Oh no, two more!

I previously posted a pseudo-complaint that despite WUS not being a sales forum, I keep blocking FS posters in the 'New' area when I don't recognize them from conversations or they post multiple FS posts, and no matter how many I block my 'New' area is filled with FS ads.

New Milestone!!

Trying to thin the herd to fit in my watch cabinet (from ~60 to 48) and I'm queuing up a couple for ebay this weekend. So i went back to my tracking spreadsheet to see how I have done historically- I have only sold a few to-date. But I noticed a trend in my taste. Of the three I have sold, two were from too many complications, and one was just for visibility. (these are examples, not my listings)…

Too much going on

I am at a crossroads. As my collection grew, I bought an antique cabinet and modified it to hold 48 watches in the drawers in modified watch boxes, while the cabinet below provided storage for all of the boxes – which at the time I thought was more than enough. Plus there was some space in the drawers for extra straps, NIB watches, etc.

I am at the point where I have far exceed the 48 watch capacity of the cabinet. So, do I do a fire sale and move some watches at the low end of the wear…

Keep/Sell Crossroads

My father passed away recently, and these are the two watches that he owned when he passed. The one on the left was his daily wear, as you can tell from the very worn condition. He was asking for it while he was in the ICU for 17 days.

He got these watches for free with mail order catalog orders for his clothes. I'm not trying to watch shame him by any means. I think it shows that a watch at any price can be appreciated by its owner.

i posted about this last year, but i didn't make it there myself. it's a lot of regional micros, but some larger brands too. I may go this year, but I'm not in the market for watch right now and the prices are at the high end of my limit, but I may go just to break the monotony of winter. March 8-9.
